Singing Puppets!

I was in the store looking at those ridiculous harmonizing little toys and I thought of how fun it would be to use puppets in primary to make things interesting.  I'm thinking that to make it more appropriate and church themed I could make the puppets look like fun versions of Helaman, Sariah, Nephi, etc.  Then while singing songs the kids could use the puppets to sing certain phrases or certain parts for a duet song.  I don't know, I think it could be a fun way to let the kids use their puppetry skills and if not I can make a puppet do some pretty fun things!  P.S.  here's a tutorial on how to make sock puppets with those great wide mouths.  Click Here

Wendy The Worm!

So I found this great idea on The Crazy Chorister and immediately fell in love with the idea.  I adapted the idea and created a modge podged collage apple and our lovely green friend Wendy The Worm!  The Jr. Primary absolutely loved meeting Wendy and we had so much fun with her.  On The Crazy Chorister Blog you will find tons of ideas for how to make this a success so read up on what she did and get ready for some silliness. . .but you just gotta go with what feels right for you and for your Primary.  The kids were enthralled for the whole time, I was so happy this was a success.  I also used my wiggle worms as Wendy's Friends and we sang wiggle songs between our practice songs.

Watch Me Now

I got most of these out of one of those Super Singing Activity Books from Deseret Bookstore and of course I used my non-artistic abilities to craft the stop/go signs!  These work really well for any song, it helps the kids really concentrate on what they are singing and what you are doing. . .I use these a lot with awesome success

Super Silly Glasses

These are my "super singer finder" glasses. . .even the Sr. Primary loves when I pull out these babies!!  It's lots of fun to make a teacher or member of the presidency wear these and point of super singers or rate their singing on a scale of 1-10!
Sometimes you just need a good laugh and so I wear these silly glasses when we do our wiggle songs to get all our non-reverence out!!  The boys in Sr. Primary volunteer to wear these often!

Handy Helpers

These are awesome helpers I made following the idea from Singing Testimonies.  Of course I've only used these in Jr. Primary since the Sr. Primary kids are much to dignified to respond to such silly things but they are extremely popular.

When I use these I pull them out and explain that my handy helpers have come to primary to help us out.  I explain that they have 5 ears to help them listen to how reverent the kids are and how well they are singing.  We have lots of fun and I just go out of my way to be silly with them.  They go around and touch the kids' fingers and teach song actions and get shy when the kids are too loud.  Just make them do whatever you want and the kids love them.
