Help Me Out on my 5 Stake Music Workshop

Ummm hello can you all just join me in a collective scream of sheer panic when I tell you what I've gotten myself into.  I was approached and asked if I would lead a 2 1/2 hour workshop at the upcoming 5 Stake Music Workshop entitled "In Tune."  I said "yes, of course" without even thinking of what that all entailed.  Now I'm panicking, I've never done a workshop before, let alone talk for 2 1/2 hours .  .well except for Sundays in Primary which are like one giant fun fest every week!  Soooo I'm enlisting you all to help me out.  Please send me your favorite Primary Ideas, your favorite props, your most spiritual experiences and anything else that has worked for you, I would love to hear and if you give me permission I would love to use some of your ideas to pass along to the 40+ Primary Choristers I get to have fun with in this workshop!

  1. I'm so jealous! I would LOVE to do a workshop like that! All of my ideas are on my blog, but one that is always a hit is the "Crescendo the Crocodile" idea at http://preciousprimary.blogspot.com/2011/01/crescendo-crocodile.html

Let us know how it goes, and post your outline if you can!

    good luck!

  3. Yes, where will this training be?

One thing you could do is "teach" some of the songs for 2012 using techniques that you want to convey.

  4. The best thing for our primary kiddos is letting them feel my love, for them and for the music. I am NOT a musical person BUT I lead with my heart and soul. I sing the songs all week long (just ask my husband!) and try not to use the book on Sunday. I try to be looking in their faces at all times, if I get stuck I ask my pianist for the specific word. The songs in the Children's Songbook teach the gospel in the most simple and basic way. I love primary music! ~Good luck with your workshop!~
