Praise to the Man 3rd Verse

Okay so literally I was not prepared to teach senior primary today and I had no idea what I was going to do then an awesome thought came. . .hmmm how about let them teach it!  So after making sure they knew the 1st verse and chorus really well I handed out my laminated hymn copies and divided them into groups of 3-5 and and assigned them a phrase of the third verse.  I gave them 5 minutes to come up with actions that would help teach everyone their phrase.  One by one we had the groups come up and teach us their phrase and actions. . .it was awesome!!  They were so creative and so full of excitement for this project.  Give it a try and see what they come up with. . .here's what mine did.
  • Great is his glory (arms up like flexing muscles) and endless (superman arms to the left) his priesthood (bring hands together and forward as if giving a priesthood blessing)
  • Ever (left hand palm up) and Ever (right palm up) His keys (right hand turns key in door) He will hold (cup hands like holding something
  • Faithful and True (march in place) he will enter his kingdom (act as if turning knob and opening door)
  • Crowned in the midst (place hands above he forming a crown) of the prophets of old (bend over and hold a cane like an old man)
  • Hail to the prophet (palms facing in towards each other lower from head to waist) Ascended to heaven (palms up bring hands up slowly)
  • Traitors (punch with one hand) and Tyrants (punch with other hand) now fight him in vain (shake finger back and forth like no no no)
  • Mingling (wave like you're saying hello) with Gods he can plan (open palms like a book) for his brethren (link elbows with neighbors)
  • Death cannot conquer (elbow bent left arm level in front of chest, right arm elbow on hand of left hand and lower down) the hero again (raise fist in triumph)

  1. Love the actions, thanks for listing them in detail. What actions did you do for the 1st verse?

  2. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas! They've been a big help. :)
Did you use this same activity to teach the 3rd verse to jr. pimary? I would love to hear what worked for you.

  3. We didn't do any actions for the first verse, i just used the picture flipchart and I also did not teach the Jr. Primary the 3rd verse yet. . .I'm just waiting to see how the rest of the year goes, it may be just the Sr. that will sing that verse, who knows!
